"Simplicity is a difficult thing to achieve" - Charlie Chaplin

Happy Monday bunnies!

I'm still getting over this bug type thing that has decided to attack me, but I'm feeling miles better than I was thank goodness. Today I watched "Chaplin", the biopic film of Charlie Chaplin, and I was mesmerized. What a life he led. I sat there for over 2 hours, not moving an inch as I didn't want to miss a thing. I was recording it on Sky+ anyways but I still didn't want to miss a beat. I've always loved his films as a child but I didn't know a lot about his personal life, just the man in front of the camera.

My dad used to have a bowler hat when I was a child and my brother showed me how to role it up my arm and onto my head like Chaplin did, which I still do all the time with hats. I think I wore that hat for about a year straight. I've had a sort of obsession for hats ever since. I bought a bowler hat at the beginning of September in Topshop after I spazzed out for about 5minutes in front of it as I was so happy I found one because they didn't have any ANYWHERE. It's my best friend. All I have to do is lash on tonnes of mascara, red lipstick and do my fringe and I'm ready to roll with that baby on my head. Instant coolness. Like shoes, I really think hats can make an outfit complete. The next hat I'm looking for now is a nice small top hat. Think Topshop again might have them!

Charlie Chaplin was the business people, even if he did marry a bunch of times. Sometimes it just takes a while to find the right one. I even loved his style. Monochrome. Kinda "tramp" looking. Brilliant hahaha.

Here's a few photos of the main man himself to keep you all entertained.

I'm Sick

I'm sick. Not appreciating this at all. Can't stop vomiting so I have been reduced to brining the laptop into the bathroom with me so I can study for my exam that I have in, oh, 4 hours. This is not good at all. The only thing that is cheering me up right now is this song. Has a fighting essence to it. Like you could go jogging to it or something.

Hope none of you are feeling as crappy as I am.

Happy Friday bunnies don't get up to too much mischief this weekend ;)

Ok, I am absolutely LOVING the fashion at the minute, as I have always dressed with a bit of a grunge element to my clothes so it is now easy as sin to get clothes that I like, but what I cannot understand is the fact that velvet is everywhere. I hate it. Hate hate hate hate. I think it can look nice on people sometimes and I'm quite ok for it to be on dresses or whatever, but now I am terrified of being out in public in case I rub up against someone who has velvet on them somewhere. The feel of that stuff rubbed up backwards is ridiculously disgusting. I'm shuddering to the thought. Not cool people.
Hopefully velvet will be in and out of fashion soon. But I have a feeling it won't be. Damn.

Questions and Answers

It's either this or studying so here goes...

Your hair?
My hair is tempermental. I have medium length curly/frizzy hair that I normally straighten because it's easier to style then, although if it's humid out then I'm screwed. Think 1980's perm with a wet finger being stuck into a plug socket. Not hot. I got a fringe in the last month and I love it although when I'm out and drunk it bothers me. I have been dying my hair since I was 14 but my natural colour is a really deep brown with bits of red in it. It's one of my regrets dying it so much, but getting it stripped will destroy my hair. I love my hair otherwise.

Your favourite food?
I am probably one of the biggest foodies you'll ever meet. My family revolves around food. Family gatherings are the worst - buffet style. I feel pregnant with lust towards buffet tables. If I had to pick one type of food though I would say it would have to be pizza. Or chicken wings. Or crisps. Or chocolate. Ok I'm going to stop now because I'm making myself hungry.

Your favourite drink?
Coffee without a shadow of a doubt. The day I got my Starbucks card during the summer was probably a turning point in my life. Now when I go into Starbucks I get a venti 8 shot americano with room for milk. Only €3.50. HEAVEN AND CHEAP. Other than coffee I love Coke Zero. I would bathe in that stuff. Favourite alcoholic beverage is vodka. We've had a long love affair since I was 15. I actually got angry at my Dad the other day when he tried to clean a pair of earrings for my mother using a bit of vodka that was in the cupboard. What a waste of such a beautiful drink.

Your dream goal?
In all honesty, I would have to say my dream goal would be to lose this extra weight that I seem to be shifting these days, but seeing as how I'm in the process of kicking over-weights butt my proper dream goal would to be a make-up artist/stylist. It has always been such a dream of mine, and I used to go int Brown Thomas and bug the crap out of make-up assistants to get tips and adviceabout how to apply make up. I'd like to think I'm good at doing make-up too, I just need to learn some other tricks etc. I plan on going into make-up after I finish college next year. I would idealy love to have my own make-up range and styling firm (is that right way to put it?). If all that fails though, I would just like to be HAPPY.

Your hobby?
Shopping. Duh. Or putting on make up. Or playing dress up. A mixture of all 3 would be fantastic, thank you.

Your fear?
I'm a scaredy cat, so I have my list. Velvet, clowns, ketchup (don't ask), death - either myself or others. I also don't like the thought of being alone. But that would be high on a lot of people's list too eh?

Where were you last night?
I was driving around in my friend's car for a while then I popped up to the hotel up the road to meet my parents and aunt and uncle after a charity table quiz they were at for a quick drink then went home! Exciting life I lead.

Something you say all the time?
"Um" "Uh" "Em" "Fuck" "Like" "In all honesty" "In fairness" "Awesomeo".

Something that you're not?
Mean. I just don't understand that. How could a person deliberitely hurt someone else? If I have ever said anything mean to someone, it was always unintentional and I would immediately regret it and try to make ammeds with said person. There's too much hurt in this world without me adding to it.

Wishlist item?
Brown Thomas. OR to inherit all of Sir Philip Green's will. Either will do.

Last thing you did?
Made breakfast for Dad and myself.

What are you wearing?
I wish I could say something cool, but unfortunately I'm wearing Corona beer pyjama bottoms (Male), an XL men's "Watchmen" t-shirt, and men's waffle dressing gown. I NEVER dress to impress when I'm in bed, something my mother just cannot get her head around. Next time I'll be more glamerous, I swear.

Your pets?
I did have a rabbit and guinnea pig years ago, but they're both playing with the clouds right now. I would love a cat or a dog though. But Dad is violently allergic to animal hair :(

My friends are my family. They are my sisters. They are the ones who push my buttons and wreck my head and annoy the complete and utter hell out of me, and I love every single bit of that. They get away with murder. I love them more than they'll ever know. They're the ones who would literally slap me across the face if they thought I needed it, and on certain occasions, I have. I would go insane if it weren't for my bunnies.

You don't mess with my bitches.

Missing someone?

Something you're not wearing?
My new top that I got from Dunnes. It looks waaaaaay more expensive than it is. Only €20.

Love it.

Your favourite store?
Urban Outfitters, Topshop, Pennys, Dunnes, New Look.

Your favourite colour?
Blue, Purple, or Black.

The last time you cried?
I cry all the time. It's how I release anger and frustration. I think I shed a tear yesterday when I flicked over to "Ps. I Love You" for 5 minutes. I can't watch that film anymore it just breaks me down.

When's the last time you laughed?
2 days ago. I was outside having a smoke at a friends house because a bunch of the girls were going out for Laura's birthday so I thought I would pop over and say hi. Lisa was in the middle of explaining a story to me and she completely threw herself onto the ground. Utterly snotted herself. I was laughing so hard I couldn't help her up. I felt guilty immediately and helped her up then resumed my crying with laughter.

Where do you eat?
At home. Mum's dinners are the business.

What Do YOU Think?

I'm in utter shock. I don't know what to think here. Completely speechless, and that doesn't happen very often to me. I was perving on The Style Bitches and came across this. JEDWARD from Xfactor. I had to do a double look because I didn't think it was actually them. Just... Oh my god.

What do YOU think?? Yay or nay?
I would have to say YAY, even though I wasn't their number 1 fan, they are shutting this photo dowwwwwn!

I am a stupid stupid girl. I have no idea what is wrong with me. For some reason late last night after I got home from the gym, I figured I would have a bit of a pampering session, as I have been stressed lately. I put on the New Moon OST (I recommend you buy it - Bon Iver, Thom Yorke, Grizzly Bear, what's not to like?), threw on the heating so I could have a piping hot shower (the only way to do it in my opinion), and set about having good ole ME time. I veeted, showered, scrubbed, cleaned, buffed, filed nails, moisturized, painted my nails, let my hair dry out naturally (which now in effect looks somewhat like I stuck a wet finger in a plug socket).
I felt better about myself, but I was still slightly restless. This wasn't what I was used to doing, like there was something else that needed to be done. I scrambled through my drawer and fished out my fake tan. I decided "oh what the heck" and started to out it on. Now I wish I never did it. Stupid, stupid me. You see, I haven't touched a bottle of fake tan in over 3 months because I looked like one of THOSE girls after a few experiences (you all know what I'm on about, I shudder to even think it so I'm not going to mention it). But anyways I decided to forgoe the fake tan to see how I felt. I felt a heck of a lot better. I didn't have those night-before-the-night-out panics any more about whether or not I had used enough fake tan on my legs or if it was patchy anywhere. My skin cleared up and I felt confident going out with bare legs without tan on. THEN I found out that pale skin was coming back into fashion along with the whole grunge look. Delighted didn't describe my feelings. I wouldn't be on my own in this pasty business. But now back to my horror story from last night.
I woke up this morning smelling of a giant digestive biscuit, then when I looked in the mirror I recoiled at the tantastic vision that was me. I had completely forgotten what it was like to wear fake tan - disgusting. WHY OH WHY DID I CAVE??? I have subsequently binned all my bottles of fake tan, utterly vexed at my own weak-mindedness, and have now vouched to lay off the fakers. And I mean it this time. Now I have to wait until this baked bean colouring wears off my skin. Thank God I don't have anything planned for this week.

Pale is pretty people!

My Influence

When it comes to influences, I get quite sucked in easily. I'm a very trusting person in that if someone says I should do something I'll generally try it unless there are extreme alarm bells screaming in my head. I can be influenced quite easily by people, and I can get a lot of inspiration from them too. People always say famous women like Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller or Kate Moss are their influences and I think that is great that these women can influence girls in particular ways (although I'm not speaking to Kate at the moment ever since she said "nothing tastes better than being skinny", I wasn't best pleased at her with that. TO THE NAUGHTY CORNER FOR YOU AND NO SUPPER), but I find the people close to home more influential to me than anyone else. My friend Leonn has a fantastic dress sense, the type style I would totally rock if I was skinny enough (not pulling the sympathy card here, just a matter of fact!). She is a gorgeous looking girl, with an aamzing personality to boot too, which is very rare to find these days in some people. She's come into her own ever since she left college and I think thats exactly what she needed to do. To "find herself", so to speak. She has a blog here too, you should check her out: http://cosmo-sparkle.blogspot.com/ You won't be disappointed.

Although I love my Leonn bundles and bundles, I have a slightly unorthodox influence: My dad. My father is my best friend. We are the same person, just 38years in the difference. Born on the same day, we have been inseperable from the moment we set eyes on each other. Dad and myself have the same personality, which in some ways isn't the best because we tend to clash on some things, but they rarely last more than 5 minutes. He caves. I win. (I LOVE being a daddy's girl).
Not only is my father my best friend, he knows EVERYTHING about me. I don't have one secret from the man. Honestly. He knows everything. AND he doesn't judge! One of the many reasons why I love the big lug.

Dad has influenced nearly everything in my life from the moment I was born. From an early age when kids my ages were watching Barney, I was listening to Jimi Hendrix on vinyl and readin the lyrics as if they were fairy tale stories, or getting my dad to record Beatles albums onto a tape so I could play their albums on my Fisher Price stereo thingy at night and go to sleep. Not only has he shaped my love for music (like who can honestly say that their favourite song when they were 5 was "I Am The Walrus" by The Beatles?? Not that many), but he also completely and utterly influenced my taste in fashion.

My father has quite possibly the most amazing taste in clothes ever. He's a solid firm believer in paying above the norm for something that is worth getting, regardless of the price tag. Sometimes I wish he wasn't my dad, and that he was gay, so then I could be selfish and have him as my own little GBF, but then he wouldn't be my dad, which means I wouldn't exist, and then my head hurts and I realise I'm being stupid and I need to shut the hell up. He completely got me into the whole punk rock grunge glam look years ago and it's always been my favourite style. I have more rock t-shirts cut up to bits and modified than I do dresses. And I love dresses. He paid nearl €200 on a pair of Docs for me with 3 buckles going around the side because they "make you look cool. Kind of like Joan Jett". (I was sold instantly). I love shopping with him because he knows what he is on about and I always trust his judgement. He can see things coming into fashion about 6 months before they actually do. Does anyone remember the woeful Parachute Pants?? I can thankfully honestly say that I never possessed a pair, although at one stage I was sorely tempted. But anyways, my father imformed me that these "things" were going to come into fashion soon and I didn't believe him whatsoever, but 6 months later about 40 out of 70 girls in my year in school owned a pair. Vile, vile trousers.

STOP. Hammer Time.
(Ok in fairness they weren't as bad as MC Hammer's, but you catch the drift.)

Dad and myself are actually in the middle of a fierce battle at the moment that has been going on for about a month now at this stage, and I don't know if we're going to get past this one. We're arguing over leather jackets. He has promised to get me one, and is willing to pay up to 500sploons for one (the above and beyond norm prices for quality things again), but we are constantly in a battle over what type to get. I inform him that I am the one wearing it, whereas he has a good point in saying that he is the one buying it and doesn't want to regret his purchase. I have been tempted on several occasions just to buy a crap plastic leather one for €20 to annoy him, but then I would be down the money and up a horrendous fake leather jacket. Lose-Lose situation for me there.

I am going to have to listen to the man though, because as much as it pains me to say this, he knows waaaaaaaaaaaay more about fashion than I do. Did I mention he is a 58 year old man??? HE was the one who informed me about Christopher Kane for Chrissake!!!! That shit is embarrassing! Can't really complain though, he is amazing at everything he does, and God help anyone who tries to tell me otherwise. The man is a living saint in my eyes and heart. I love my Dad.

The cutest man in the world. FACT.

Shooting the Moon.

Happy Monday everyone, hope all is well in your own little wonderlands. Speaking of wonderlands, I went to see New Moon last night (which was completely and utterly amazing - I laughed, cried, got scared, swooned, everything a girl wants from a teenage vampire-werewolf-human girl love triangle film), and saw a trailer for the New Alice in Wonderland film. It looks creepy, weird, beautiful and fantastic, exactly how you would expect it to be. But I'm not here to talk about films although I would love to blab on about Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner for eternity. I am here to blog about a particular clothing company that I've fallen in love with recently. It screams PUNK-GLAM-GRUNGE-VINTAGE at me which is what I'm totally into. It's my style balled into one, just with more fabulous looking girls instead of my face hahaha. Anyways their clothing is painfully priced, which bums me out a little, but it doesn't take away from their fabulous pieces. The whole line has a vintage vibe to it & is extremely comfortable. I love all their promo photo shoots they have on their site. It is simple with a rock n roll twist. Totally into it. Makes you think of a really big house party that's just gone out of control and everyone is drunk and having a good time. Fabulous.

(All photos from wilfoxcouture website)

Hope you're all having a fabulous day bunnies, I'm off to try and convince someone to come see New Moon with me again! Withdrawal symptoms do not describe the feelings...

The Alexander McQueen Armadillo heels? Quite possibly the most amazing shoes ever created. Ever. If I wasn't such a clutz I'd save every ounce of my money for a pair and hire some male escort to hold onto for the entire evening. Love love love.

The Wedge Boot

I've always been a MAJOR fan of the wedge ever since I was a Spice Girl nut. Not only are they comfortable, they can be sky-scraper high without you feeling like your ankle is about to pop out its socket. Not one of my friends could console me when the autumn/winter line was coming in and I thought I would have to retire the wedge heel as my staple shoe. I feared for my life when I went into shops and saw 5&1/2 inch toothpick heels with what looked like dental floss keeping you in the shoe. I even caved and splurged a whole €17 on a pair of heels that look like I stepped into a cobweb, but in the good kind of way. But the other week, instead of sleeping, I was drooling over the British Vogue website and nearly screamed out in joy when I saw that the wedge BOOT has come into fashion, and even more importantly, STAYING in fashion, and is currently being shown on the Burberry, Chanel and Kurt Geiger catwalks (to name a few). Soon all high-street shops shall have them in and I will raid them all in the search of the perfect pair (or two... or three. Don't judge).

Anyways I just needed to post this so you guys can appreciate the fact that your feet shall be safe and fashionable for the next few months. Fab.
